TSL 4081 - TESOL Issues and Practices: Responsive Teaching for Linguistic Learners

(3 Credit Hours)

Prerequisites: TSL 3080  

Corequisites: EEX 4272  required of ESE students only. This course builds upon foundational knowledge of English language development and prepares teacher candidates to provide linguistically and  environmentally responsive instruction for K-12 English Language Learners (ELLs/ESOL students). Emphasis is placed on standards-based curriculum, research-informed strategies, and assessment practices that support the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills across academic content areas. Through the co-requisite EEX 4272 Lab/Studio/Field course, candidates will engage in a minimum of 20 hours of field experience, including observation and teaching of ELLs, to practice applying instructional strategies, analyzing student performance, and reflecting on professional practice.
