EEX 4272 - High Leverage Practices for Exceptional Learners 3: Lab/Studio/Field

This advanced lab/studio/field course provides teacher candidates with applied experience in evidence-based instructional strategies for students with moderate to severe disabilities and transition-age youth. Emphasizing the use of individualized High-Leverage Practices (HLPs), candidates engage in collaborative reading, writing, reflection, and experimentation within simulated and authentic PreK-12 classroom environments. The course integrates transition planning and promotes the application of HLPs across a variety of instructional contexts. Lab/studio/field experiences are closely coordinated with co-requisite courses, and candidates document their growth in the Practice with Purpose stage of the Foundation Development Portfolio (FDP). Designed to prepare candidates for the FTCE Professional and ESE Subject Area Exams, the course is ESOL-infused and aligns with Reading Endorsement Competencies.
