(3 Credit Hours)
(B.S.)

This course provides an introduction to assessment practices and the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework for supporting K-12 learners. Emphasis is placed on universal screening, progress monitoring, diagnostic assessment, and data-based decision making to inform instruction and intervention across tiers of support. Candidates will examine assessment practices that address individual differences in language, learning, and educational experience, as well as legal and ethical considerations related to evaluation and eligibility for exceptional student education services. Lab/studio-based experiences support the application of assessment data to instructional planning and goal development.
