PLA 2732 - Legal Technology

(3 Credit Hours)

This course introduces the student to software programs that are essential to being a successful paralegal. The emergence of technology and its role in changing the legal industry will be explored. Students will gain insight into the legal technology market and the many software tools utilized by law firms of all sizes and practice areas. Applications will include word processing, electronic communication, spreadsheets, document preparation and collaboration, docketing/calendaring, billing, courtroom presentation, and case management software. Students will acquire hands-on experience with over a dozen legal technology tools using software simulations and training tutorials and will receive certification from a nationally recognized legal office technology group.
