NUR 2703C - Nursing Transition

This course provides six hours of lecture, three hour of learning lab and nine hours of clinical experience per week. Prerequisites: Completion of an LPN Program, currently holds an unencumbered, unrestricted license as an LPN in the State of Florida, and meet the minimum scores required on the nurse entrance exam. 

 

Corequisites: Concurrent enrollment in NUR 2703K and NUR 2703L . This course is designed for the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) seeking transition to the Registered Nurse (RN) role. Prior knowledge and clinical competencies are validated at the beginning of the course. Content builds upon practical nursing preparation with emphasis on acute alterations and chronic conditions affecting diverse populations. Comprehensive assessment, clinical judgment, evidence-based nursing care, communication, patient and family teaching, professional nursing practice, and the use of healthcare technologies are integrated to support safe patient care. Respect, responsiveness, accountability, and resilience are emphasized in the advancement to the RN role within the healthcare environment.

Upon successful completion of NUR 2703C and NUR 2703L and the ASN Program, advanced placement credit will be awarded in lieu of NUR 1023C/NUR 1023L and NUR 1730C/NUR 1730L. Additional special fee is required. Note(s): For nursing majors only.
