NUR 2703C - Nursing Transition (10 Credit Hours) (A.S.)
This course provides six hours of lecture, three hour of learning lab and nine hours of clinical experience per week. Prerequisites: Completion of an LPN Program, currently holds an unencumbered, unrestricted license as an LPN in the State of Florida, and meeting the minimum scores required on the nurse entrance exam.
Corequisites: Concurrent enrollment in NUR 2703L . This course is designed for the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who wishes to advance into the Registered Nurse (RN) role. The LPN’s knowledge and previously learned skills are validated during the first two to three weeks of the course. Emphasis is placed on assisting the student on the transition from the LPN to the RN role. This course is designed to build upon the basic concepts within the three domains of Nursing: Individual, Nursing, and Healthcare. Emphasis is placed on acute alterations and chronic conditions in health and wellness as they pertain to the three domains. Concepts related to the Individual domain includes select topics of biophysical, psychosocial, and sexuality. The Nursing domain includes aspects distinct to nursing practice and the profession. The course assists the student to apply newly acquired concepts within the Healthcare environment. Upon successful completion of NUR 2703C and NUR 2703L and the ASN Program, advanced placement credit will be awarded in lieu of NUR 1023C/NUR 1023L and NUR 1730C/NUR 1730L.
