OTH 1410 - Introduction to Human Disease (3 Credit Hours) (A.S.)
Three hours per week. Prerequisites: Satisfactory completion of BSC 2086C , DEP 2004 , OTH 1001C and OTH 1014C .
This course is an introduction to basic pathophysiology focusing on medical, surgical, orthopedic and neurological diagnoses commonly see in Occupational Therapy. The focus of discussion will be on the etiology, signs and symptoms and prognosis of each diagnosis followed by a discussion of how this impacts an individual’s ability to perform functional occupations, public health and the welfare of populations. Emphasis will be placed on the proper use of medical terminology associated with these conditions and the promotion of science and scholarly endeavors to enable the student to better describe and interpret the scope of the profession, build research capacity, establish new knowledge and interpret and apply this knowledge to practice.
