The purpose of the Film Production Fundamentals certificate program is to prepare students for initial employment as an assistant camera operator, assistant editor, boom operator, audio utility, or grip, or to provide supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed in similar occupations. The program focuses on training students in skills that will allow them to function as part of a team on professional video productions.

Program Goals

  • Demonstrate storytelling ability through filmmaking.
  • Demonstrate the application of film aesthetics in film productions.
  • Function as part of a team on film productions.
  • Analyze and execute the operation of the standard equipment, including camera, sound, lighting, and grip in a production.
  • Analyze and execute tasks in post-production.
  • Demonstrate employability skills.
