Program Goal

This program prepares qualified designers, authors, journalists, media-makers, artists and communicators who can manipulate the latest technology and procedures for digital media presentations. Skills learned include components and construction of narrative and documentary video/film and still photography, digital audio, video and graphic design, broadcast and new media programming, with an emphasis on traditional and internet distribution methods. Display, sales and distribution of multimedia products are primary outcomes.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Function as part of a team on film/video productions.
  • Analyze and execute tasks for the area of film/video editing.
  • Analyze and execute tasks for the area of camera and lighting.
  • Formulate strategies to interpret and implement audio recording requirements for film production.
  • Demonstrate employability skills.

Program Entrance Requirements


In addition to the admission requirements of the College, the following are required for admission to the Film Production Technology Program:

I. Mathematics proficiency which qualifies the student for entry into +MAC1105 or higher, as demonstrated by the standard placement criteria currently in use at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF); and

2. Successful completion of GRA 1100C  , FIL 1000  , and ENC 1101  with a grade of “C” or belter.
