MUM 2609 - Advanced Music Studio Production (3 Credit Hours) (A.A.)
Prerequisites: MUS 1550 or instructor permission
This course gives students experience recording live instruments and vocals in a state of the art digital recording studio. This course explores ensemble recording techniques as well as multitrack and overdubbing for popular music. Topics covered include studio configurations , project management, audio signal flow, multi-channel headphone routing, microphone selection and placement, use of outboard and software- based effects processors, overdubbing, creating composite audio tracks, final mixing, mastering, and digital distribution. Topics covered include technical considerations for larger ensembles, and vocalists. Students may gain experience in various roles as head audio engineer, assistant engineer, orchestrator, musical director, or producer.
