OTH 2802L - Occupational Therapy Practicum (4 Credit Hours) (A.S.)
Twelve hours of laboratory per week. Prerequisites: OTH 1114C , OTH 1520C , OTH 1410 , ENC 1102 and a Humanities elective.
Corequisites: OTH 2420C , OTH 2300C and OTH 2261C . This course provides opportunities for students to observe and participate in occupational therapy treatment with adult clients in a physical disabilities and mental health fieldwork environment within the community and/or virtual environments. The student will work under the supervision of an occupational therapist, occupational therapy assistant and/or other approved designated fieldwork supervisors. A variety of fieldwork settings are used to expose the students to individuals and groups with physical and psychosocial dysfunction. This course also includes a fieldwork seminar hour which is designed to facilitate the development of clinical skills by developing clinical reasoning/problem solving skills, develop an understanding of health literacy and the ability to educate and train the client, enhance the understanding of quality of life, well-being and occupation to promote physical and mental health, considering the context and environment and to enhance the need for and understanding of inter-professional collaboration within the health care environment. Additional special fees are required.
