OTH 1014C - Functional Anatomy and Kinesiology

Four hours lecture and three hours laboratory per week. Prerequisites: Satisfactory completion of BSC 2085C , mathematics (from Area II, A.S.) and PSY 2012 .

This course is designed to explore the analysis of human movement and its impact on function through the integration of biomechanics, kinesiology and applied anatomy. Principles of exercise, therapeutic use of occupation and activities are introduced. Manual muscle testing and goniometric measurement are examined and practiced. Principles are reinforced through a problem-solving approach to increase the understanding of movement of the body and the relationship to occupational therapy intervention including the interaction of areas of occupation, performance patterns, activity demands, context(s) and environmental factors, personal factors, and client factors. Additional special fees are required.
