One hour lecture, three hours laboratory per week. Prerequisites: Satisfactory completion of OTH 1114C , OTH 1410 , OTH 1520C
This course is designed to enable the student to understand the process of screening and evaluation to develop outcome measures as related to occupational performance and participation. Outcome measures are tools used to document change in one or more constructs over time and help to describe the client’s strengths/abilities and their problems/deficits as well as to evaluate the effects of occupational therapy intervention. The student will learn how the process of screening and evaluation for the occupational therapy assistant must be conducted under the supervision of and in cooperation with the occupational therapist and must be culturally relevant and based on theoretical perspectives, models of practice, frames of reference and available evidence. Screening and evaluations reviewed in this course will span the lifespan, practice areas and performance skills and will include both quantitative and qualitative assessments.
